Magic is one of a startling elements in Jacob’s story. This week we talk about Jacob’s use of magic to obtain wealth, Laban claiming to be a diviner, and how Rachel’s reliance on magic to give her a child might have contributed to her death. And we ask the all important question, was Jacob right to use magic or is it evidence that he was being changed by his time in Laban’s house. We also explore how this theme of magic connects Jacob’s story to Genesis  and Saul visiting the witch of Endor.
