Saul has made a vow that none of Israel will eat until the Philistines are defeated, but Jonathan is unaware of what his father has decreed. When he learns what his father has done, he compares his father to Achen! We also see how this story reveals an important but unstated detail about Jephthah’s vow and the death of his daughter.
