David Fights People and Emily Voices Some Bias - Faith and Other Oddities Episode 133
We are in Second Samuel 8, and Emily skips a lot of the particulars to focus on the interesting parts. She explains why she does not like the popular translation that says David “hamstrung” thousands of horse, and why another reading makes more sense to her in light of the Torah’s commands concerning the treatment of animals. We also talk about the significance of this chapter - hint, it is not that David was successful in battle but why he was successful in battle.
