17 - The Gospel of Victory and Hellenism
Your browser doesn't support HTML5 audio
This episode explores one of the many “gospels” that would have been in competition for people’s loyalty and trust, leading up to, and during the 1st century - Hellenism (Greek language and culture.)
Understanding this is important as we seek to understand how people would have understood even the basic term, “gospel”, when Jesus and His disciples started preaching that the Kingdom of God was at hand.
Notes
The Bema Discipleship podcast has a great series covering context like this, and a longer episode discussing this precise point - Alexander the Great’s “gospel” of Hellenism.
